History of Westcliffe Community Church

Westcliffe Community Church began as a house church on Easter Sunday morning in April of 1998. The small group met in a home for several years with Dan Dovidio serving as the pastor. In 2003 the congregation moved to their first rented space on Main Street. As the congregation continued to grow, the church moved again in November of 2004, to a larger rented building on Second Street in Westcliffe. In the early years the church had a strong emphasis on prayer and a vision to reach the small mountain community of Westcliffe one individual at a time.

In September of 2006 the church moved once again, this time into a larger brand new church facility on Adams Boulevard. The building was leased in faith with an option to buy. During this time of transition and refocusing WCC joined Harvest Net, an association of churches, in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. Also during this time three elders and their wives were added to the team to help lead the church. Guest ministers from Harvest Net joined us to celebrate God’s faithfulness during the ordination service installing the elders, which was held during the first Sunday morning worship service in the new building. In the following three weeks, over one hundred thousand dollars was raised, which allowed the church to purchase the building in January of 2007.

It is the prayer and hearts cry of Westcliffe Community Church to see our community transformed by the power God. Gathering together to worship God in spirit and in truth, prayer for the community, and prophetic ministry continue to be some of the main focuses of the church. WCC continues to grow as we see God planting His people with a common vision in a remote location according to Isaiah 41:17-20 as He promised the leadership many years ago.

“When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongues fail for thirst, I, the Lord, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. I will open rivers in desolate heights, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water. I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree, the myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine and the box tree together, That they may see and know, and consider and understand together, that the hand of the Lord has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.” Isaiah 42:17-20 NKJV
